We are pleased once again to partner with Antonio for our annual December Wine and Food Pairing Holiday Party. The menu is fabulous including grilled swordfish with a whiskey caramelized onion marmalade, filet mignon tournedos wrapped with apple wood smoked bacon and pumpkin and white chocolate cheese cake. To make the evening even more festive we're planning to pour some bubbly as well as pairing each of the courses with two different wines. Click /scripts/eventPg.cfm to see the complete menu. Barrel Chairs by Adam Olsen
This creative and enterprising teenager produces individually unique chairs that he builds out of old wine barrels. There are a couple on display at the Winery. Check them out. In the meantime click Adam's_Chair.pdf to see the story. The chairs are $330.
Award Winning Winemaking
Nevada City Winery, an undiscovered golden treasure of California's northern Sierra Foothills, has been producing award-winning wines since 1980. This premium, full production winery is located in the heart of historic, downtown Nevada City, the heartbeat of California's Gold Country. Nevada County has a long tradition of winemaking with the original vineyards dating back to California's Gold Rush. Today Nevada City Winery is located just two blocks from where it once stood in the 1880's.

Winemaker Mark Foster has continued the tradition of producing flavorful, full-bodied, award-winning wines. Nevada City Winery has earned hundreds of awards over the years including Best Varietal Of Region for Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Zinfandel Sangiovese, Gewurztraminer and Cabernet Sauvignon at the California State Fair.
A Day In The Cellar
The 2008 crush is all over but the shouting. It was fast and furious. It started early, the last week in August, and went without stopping through the month of September. By the middle of September Mark was 70% done with crush whereas normally he would usually only be 30%-40% done by then. By the end of the month it was over. Fast. But just because fermentation is over doesn't mean the winemaking is done. We'll follow the path of the grape through the remarkable transformation during the next few months.
